Scale Workshop

In the Scale workshop, we were shown how to make a board game in a simple way and there are some interesting examples that they did in their magazine. We were told to make a board game of our life, so i decided to make a journey of myself going to school. What will happen in mid way and what will you do if  you forgot something at home.

Simple design of my journey to school. Its a long way to school,

but if its not long, there will be no fun in this game~

It quite short the game, but looks really interesting.

This example confuse me... I still dont get it...

Where is the start and where do I go? the drawing is good,

But the game is too confusing.

Emphasis Workshop

In this workshop with Jo Spencer we were told to create a CD case for london using Two songs and its lyrics. playing with the fonts and letters, different size and composition. We are not allowed to use pencils and drawings in this sections, just cut and pastes. So we need to photocopy all the sized and font we need as much as possible. These are the progress I took when i am creating the CD case.

This is the first CD case complete.

There are some lyrics inside and the design is quite simple.

My second CD case is complete as well.

I think this one is better than the first one.

Movement Workshop

In this workshop we were talking about Movement. Movement is a motion like moment to moment, action to action, time to time... etc. Like a story line. For example, a trip from home to school. What happen in the mid way of the trip and what things are interesting happened.
It class we were told to write ten things about our trip from home to school.

These are the ten points that i wrote in the trip.
than he told us to pick five major points in the selections to make it into a movement. My five selection are : Woke up ten minutes late, miss the bus, took the wrong train, search for the ID card and rush up the stairs.







This is the storyline of the trip i took when I go to school. first of all i woke up ten minutes late, than have a quick shower to refresh myself. Than slam the door, lock it and rush to the bus station. But unfortunately I missed the bus... After i arrive the tube station I topped up my oyster card and than went to the tube. while i arrive to the platform, the tube departed... i was thinking what a unlucky day... than when I arrive to school i was searching for my ID card for two minutes @o@""". The time was 10:29am. After I went through the gate i rush to the stairs and up to the classroom, than the section started.

Contrast: Coat of arms

Todays workshop we were taking is about contrast. We were told to bring informations of where we were living at the lesson to help us in this project. So I printed out some information about Oval and camberwell road. In the workshop we talked about Coat of Arms and were explained how to make one and why do we need Coat of arms.

This is a coat of arm presented to Oval station and camberwell road.
In the shield there are four image, its presented to be cricket, bank, england and roses. There is a cricket ground around Oval, there are a lot of bank around camberwell road, all these area is in England and there is a park between Oval and camberwell road.

This is a coat of arm present to Rickmansworth  Chorleywood. This place is in zone six in London. The reason why i choose this place for my nice Coat of arm is because my auntie is livin in that place and the place is so beautiful and the air around that area is so refreshing. The tree is presented as a forest and the swan is present to me a pond full of swan.






This are the information about the Oval station and the camberwell road. the camberwell road have more information than the Oval station, so there is a lot of detail about that area for me to draw the Coat of arms.

Trick or treat! Yes its a festival called halloween~ I know that people loves halloween because teenagers love dressing as their favourite characters and do funky stuff. putting makeup on and decorate yourself to be either scary or funny.

So i decide to make a postcard about halloween and drawn Garfield wearing a costume of Woody and holding a pumpkin basket going to trick or treat.

This is the final outcome of my valentine's day postcard, I have used 5 simple colour to complete this drawing. The colour is blue, pink, yellow, gold and skin colour. The image was kept simple so the colour must be simple as well to match the images.

I think that giving a Valentine's postcard is a good thing and it can express the feeling towards each other and help the company as well.

 This is a simple design of an envelope that specially fit for the postcard i made and why the envelope is special is that the colour is orange and its specially for Uscreates. Different size of postcard have different size of envelope. and its really easy to make.

Examples of different ideas and feedback

Today is the day we share our ideas with each other in lessons. The section is called "The angel and devil"

Its about being a angel that help you improve your work and do it better or being a devil that says whats bad about your work and why is it not interesting.

 This is a simple outcome of a jig saw postcard that i made for the lesson. its about saving the environment, give blood and test yourself for safety. all of the points are positive and important to you and others. the jig saw is simple and fun to play with so it wont take to much time to complete it.

 This is my second idea for the session. this is about a chinese tradition festival gift. Its called the red pocket. red in china means luck, so every chinese new year we exchange red pocket for luck and safety. using this idea as a postcard can be a little trick for friends, but it also present luck to they as well, so i think this idea is quite good.

My third piece of work is base on season festivals. In this drawing, its about Valentine day. Valentine's day is a memory of two lovers. So i was thinking of making a postcard of all the season festival postcard like Halloween and christmas. But i am not too sure if this is a good idea, so i only made a valentines's day postcard for example.  

After showing other work, the angels and devil will comment on your work and give you information on how to improve this work. The worksheet is quite messing but there are a lot of good points in there to help me in this project.

Second section of UScreates

Today we were told to make a time line for out our post card. So our time management will be easier and be more reflect able. after that we were given 4 cards thats were important keys to understand the important  points that need to be known when you are in the company. Than she told us to describe the key word in a piece of paper.

First key: Different style of postcard design. There are a lot of different postcard design that you can think of in an instants and they are all simple and interesting. like a folding postcard, a cutting postcard, a drawing postcard or an original postcard.
This key is not really that important, but having different postcard ideas will lead you towards a better outcome and interesting patterns.

Key number two: description of a painting or a piece of work. This is very important, because if you cant describe a piece of work, than you wont have any ideas of your own piece of work. Its quite normal that ideas are came from our peoples work and get the inspiration from them.

so this is actually a important key point because without peoples work you cant go forward.

Key number three: talking about the issue about the project and how to improve it.

For example like how to improve an outcome when you have finished it and make it better.

You wont understand anything if you don't do any research on something you don't know.

Do as many examples and ideas as possible, than choose the best outcome out of all the example to improve on.

Brain storming is a good idea to start with at the start of a project. It helps you to gather information and restore your mind when you are lost.

Key number four: Ideas

Having different ideas and different development is very important. Thinking about the project and produce some ideas that links to the project is not an easy thats to do. But when you got some good ideas, you will have this happy feeling coming out of yourself.

This is some simple ideas that we drawn in the the session its a "give blood" postcard and a jig saw postcard. both is linked to the project because its about postcard and it have the company's name in it so this two outcome is linked to the project.







After producing these information, we gather around and present what we have done and gather information about other groups thought and idea.
